It still won't help the Phillies get out of last place in the East. The A's are definitely going down the tube now. The only top players they have now are Jermaine Dye and Eric Chavez...but why get John Mabry? That's funny in a way...
  • Jeremi does have power, so it may help the Phillies.

2 homers in his first 2 At Bats as a philly...if they give him a couple more days to play and he still shows well, look for travis lee to be heading to Atlanta...they have expressed interest in him

I hope that we get Travis Lee because he'd DEFINITELY help us, especially at the 1st base position where we are getting BARELY ANY run support from there. If we were to get Travis Lee, then imagine this lineup (although our lineup is ALREADY good):

    Rafael Furcal
    Marcus Giles
    Chipper Jones
Gary Sheffield (been injured a lot...out as we speak with a hammy injury...grr)
    Vinny Castilla
    Andruw Jones
    Javy Lopez
    Travis Lee

Travis Lee??? HELP you??? I guess its been that kinda season...but, i can see your point...Julio Franco and Wes Helms havent done much...
  • And then you woke up from your dream derrick.... image No but you guys need to get rid of the bum chipper and get Shawn Green the homerun hitting Machine. You guys made a huge mistake by trading away Brian Jordan, i forgot where did he go again??? Oh YEA! Hes with the dodgers, also derrick you should have never traded for that injured ole' man sheffield, he just loves that bench image

Yeah, he'd DEFINITELY help better than Julio Franco and Wes Helms would (although Helms is pretty good, but Lee would do better for us I'm quite sure)...By the way, we're inching closer to that 1st place position again, and everyone will soon be looking up to us...image

LAdude - Are you crazy?! Get rid of Chipper Jones??? CJ is probably one of the top 5 CLUTCH players in the NL today. Former MVP, and 1st player in HISTORY with 30+, 100+ RBI in 6 consecutive seasons as a third baseman. Shawn Green is a GREAT player, but Chipper Jones is better considering the all-around performance. I still believe Chipper leads the Majors in batting average with runners in scoring position...and that's VERY important. Homeruns are good, but when your team loses, it really is meaningless. image

    Averages/Year

    Chipper/S. Green
    Games - 143/121
    Hits - 162/124
    At-Bats - 528/435
    Runs - 100/72
    Doubles - 31/28
    Triples - 3/3
    HR - 30/23
    RBI's - 96/71
    Walks - 85/44
    Steals - 14/13
    On-Base Percentage - .401/.354
    Slugging Percentage - .542/.517
    Average - .307/.285

Then take into count that Chipper leads the league in Average with runners in scoring position, and has an MVP award in his...and is one of the top 5 clutch hitters in the NL (according to Peter Gammons)...numbers don't lie. Not taking anything away from Shawn Green cause he's a great player...but when it comes to Chipper...CJ is a little better. image

  • This is true, i was just messin with ya about chipper being a bum, lol. But you have to take into consideration that green is still young its only his 4 season i think, hasnt hit his prime yet. He is going to be awesome.

I know, i was just making sure. image

By the way, Shawn Green is 30 just like Chipper. Chipper has been in the league since 1994, and Shawn Green played since 1993. image

Update...Braves lead 5-0 over the Reds with Greg Maddux pitching...image

Since the 1991 All-Star Break, Greg Maddux has a record of 120-3 while getting a 5 run lead! image
  • I went to the game friday night, when are you guys gonna stop blowing leads???

  • DerrickDerrick Posts: 4,287 ✭✭
Well, Nash, I think I spoke too soon...lol...Wes Helms just blasted a Homerun and he's now 3 for 3 in the game. Travis Lee who??? image

    7-3 Braves now...

hey guess what...phillies blew their lead in the 7th...swept by the Expos???
  • What happened to their bullpen?? I thought they did pretty well last year. I don't think Plesac is gonna be much help, we'll see though.
