Short Print serial number duplicated.

Hi All,

Does anyone have an explanation for this? I have 2 Longoria 2012 Topps Tribute cards both showing as 05 / 10. I've seen some of these with both "bat" cards and "jersey" cards, so I thought maybe there were ten of each kind of these. However, these are both cloth cards. Probably something simple I'm missing, but opinions are appreciated and welcomed.

    Thanks for that. Yes, I have the "Position of Power" and the "Superstar Swatches" numbered to 10 as well. What's strange is that these are both "Tribute to the Stars" cards numbered 5/10. Could be just an error/anamoly I suppose. Thanks again for your reply.

    It's my understanding that they print 2 of evey numbered card.
    So if you get a damaged card they can replace it with the same number.
    They could have released both by mistake.
    others may know more.
    But it may explain why you got two of the same number

    Panini has been known to print and release more / extras of certain "limited" print runs so I am not shocked Topps may have done this also. Chance one of them was backdoored since most companies do print some extras, but I don't believe they always print 2 of every single limited release since the reality is most cards will not be damaged. I know for limited comics most major books have a 10% overrun on limited to X releases in case of damage.

    These companies do shady stuff when it comes to jerseys whether they are legit game used/worn, event worn, hell maybe worn by a ball boy/ water boy but I am not at all shocked to see 2 of the same 05/10 hit the market.

    Interesting, that's the first I heard of companies printing extra serial numbered cards like that. Great information. That would explain it though. Thanks for the responses guys.

    Wasn't there a guy a few years ago that had more than the stated print run of a card?
