PSA card slabs in different weather conditions. Are they safe?

So I live on the east coast and I've wondered this for a while. In the winter time when I receive cards and they sit in the mailbox for an hour or Two they become very cold to the touch. Once I bringì them inside they condensate a little (I notice it on the outside) but my question is - is that doing the same on the inside? Are they getting water in there?
Also what about if you have a card in a safe deposit box or a safe?!? Even in a climate controlled environment.. I assume it gets warmer in the safe/safe deposit box... is that doing any damage?

Thanks for your opinions.

Not sure, but I have received grading orders back from PSA where the flip labels were wavy as if a humidity change affected them during transit before.

I have asked the same question here before but no one seems to know what effect extreme temp changes have on a slabbed card.

  • The moisture will form when there are quick and significant temp changes. As mentioned, like coming from a cold mailbox into a warm house, etc.. A graded slab or any plastic holder will experience this issue. Does the moisture form on the inside of the slab too? Well, think of it like a window inside of a house. Sometimes, you will see moisture form on the inside of the glass as well as the outside. Temp stability and avoiding humidity/moisture is key for your cardboard's preservation over time. I always recommend using desiccants when storing your collection.

    +1

You can put packs of silica gel (you see them in boxes of new shoes, for example) or similar desiccants into a safe deposit box.
  • They're safe. If there were major problems, you'd hear horror stories. You don't.

I live in the South and when we get extreme cold I always leave cards (or coins) inside their packages when I bring them inside until they can slowly reach room temperature. I haven't had any issues, but have worried about it!
