Anyone here use barcode software/scanner for cards?

Wondering if anyone uses a barcode scanner to inventory their collection, or if you do as a seller? Curious to know what software people are using and if they like it.

    Wasp. Works great.

All over eBay for $20 to $50. Never have had issues buying used.

A lot of other great ones, too. I've just used Wasp.

Barry ... funny you asked about this, as I was interested as well. I downloaded a BarCode Scanner to my phone. I scanned a slab, but then I didn't know what to do next! LOL It shows the code number, but then what do I do with it? How do I get it to tell me that it is a card? As you can tell, I have NO FRIGGIN idea what I'm doing with it.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Mullins

Doug, I think you might just take the information and have it loaded up to a spreadsheet?

    Doug,

Here is how the phone app thing would work in a useful way.

Install a barcode scanner app that is WiFi enabled. Such as ScanPet.
Install and setup an application called TightVNC Server on your PC.
Configure the phone app to connect with TightVNC over WiFi.
Once this is all set up, you just put the cursor on your computer wherever you want the data to go and scan.
It passes this information from your phone through that server and into wherever your cursor is.
This could be a notepad or a spreadsheet. You can even configure it to automatically press the enter key after every scan and then put your cursor in the "add inventory" entry box on PSA's website - scan a bunch of cards one after another and hit add!
It would not look up the card for you automatically because the barcode reader simply reads the information that the barcode contains, which is just the cert number.
While this is pretty neat and all, I found that it misread barcodes, was hard to read some barcodes and just took longer to get all going than it did to type in the 3-4 certs I'm usually entering at a time.
If you buy a lot of cards and need to add them to inventory, this is cool. If not, a novelty.

Douglas just upgraded from an abacus to a calculator a few months back...now you have him scanning bar codes on wifi signals and doing spreadsheets?? What's next, a smart phone??
