What's up everybody. My name is Scott and I've been a collector for many years and just now decided to break and join PSA. I started collecting the vintage Stan Musial set and got hooked. I am loving it so far. Although everything is very simple to navigate, I had a few questions.
1. Sending in high dollar VERY THICK cards and packaging - I feel so uncomfortable placing my really thick cards into the card savers. is there another method people use to do this or is that the only way? I keep thinking its just my paranoia so I wanted to get some feedback on that. I feel as if it's going to damage the card in some way.
2. is Ebay a legitimate platform for purchasing vintage cards for grade? Also any advice to someone just starting to grade sports cards? I've always been a collector, but I've just never given into this side of it. I started collecting the vintage Stan Musial set and got hooked.
thanks in advance. If this isn't the correct forum please delete or move as needed.

1. I don't send in much modern, but believe I've seen others recommend CS4s for the really thick patch cards. They're much larger and hopefully someone will chime in to confirm or correct.
2. You can strike gold on eBay, but it's best to assume that most there are not graded for a reason. I would be especially cautious with any seller that also sells graded cards. They would be leaving too much money on the table, typically, if a card were worth grading.

Start slow and try to learn as much as possible before you buy. eBay isn't going anywhere--there will be lots of good stuff tonight, tomorrow, next week, and next year. You hardly ever hear of people who got burned badly by *passing* on a card that they felt they lacked enough knowledge to buy. You hear lots of stories of the opposite. I had a lot of mixed results early buying raw vintage on eBay, but feel much more confident doing so now. I would have saved a bunch of coin if I had gotten and listened to this advice on day 1.
I'll check CS4's.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I believe people recommend the CS4s for the really thick cards.
The other advice already given here seems sound, nothing to add.
Look forward to seeing your pick ups.
Welcome to the collective

+1
When it comes to buying off ebay, patience really is important. If you can hold out longer, more than likely there will be a better deal. I track certain cards and keep a spreadsheet of graded cards and what they sold for. Been tracking cards for almost 3 years and have made some pretty good buys.
Good luck and welcome!
