1986 Fleer Kareem Adbul Jabbar PSA 10????

Is this real or another fake slab? I am no expert on card grading but to my untrained eye this card does not appear to meet the PSA 10 centering standards. Any thoughts?Kareem PSA 10

Hilariously bad - no way that is even a 7
  • It's a fake - look at the card.

It does not meet the PSA 10 centering standards. Or the PSA 8 centering standards. Or the PSA 8 corners standards. That is the worst example of a fake slab I've ever seen.

I know what you mean and agree with you, but notably, the slab itself looks pretty decent. Flip looks normal. No clear evidence of tampering.

I think that part of it is the way the image was produced -- photos (not scan) against textured surface (like countertop) makes it hard to get a good look at the edges of the slab.

It is a new slab, so is it possible to get a new one open without destroying it??

Agreed. It looks more like a bogus label rather than slab.

It's not a fake. No fakes have shown up in new holders yet. It's very recently graded so a scam artist likely wouldn't have access to this cert number. If anything, it's a clerical error which isnt very common but happens from time to time.

Wow, that is a strange one. My guess is that if you sub really ugly cards, the least ugly one gets the best grade. But seriously, possible PSA error?

The seller is awfully defensive in his listing... good stuff right there.

I think it is not a fake, but is just another example of a mech error that occurred on the grade portion of the label. Happens frequently enough.

Real card, real slab, probably just an error on PSA's end.

Aside from being a mech error, this is another in a huge data set of people buying the holder and not the card, since he does have one bidder on it. Sure, this might be an extremely ugly example, but that happens a lot as we all know.

    That's a clown listing, bro.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

not sure i understand the hubbub. yup, PSA f'd up. nope, the seller ain't shady. he told it exactly like it is in his description. no foul play here. can't wait to see the Jordan.
  • I've talked to the seller and he seems like a decent guy. He's reaching out to PSA to see if there has been an error. IMO, he should pull the listing until he knows for sure, but he has not done that yet.
  • Is it really necessary to contact someone to see if there is an error. I'd say it's pretty obvious. It happens
    It never leaves you...

I'd imagine contacting PSA would be the right thing to do when it's a card of this magnitude and it's blatantly obvious. PSA would be able to correct the mistake and offer the customer some grading vouchers.
  • In fairness to the seller:

-- He's new ( at least strongly seems that way to me )

    -- He's giving up a major pay-day

You can't fault him for wanting to check and get an authoritative answer before pulling the plug.

If this seller can sell his card for $1,648.00 with the chipping along the right side, then by all means let this seller get rid of his OC card.

Looks like he ended the listing. Looks like he dropped it from 1,200 to 500 and then ended the listing.
  • Looks like cert number is now a PSA 5 EX.

  • The seller informed me that Joe O replied to his email and requested the card be sent in to be reviewed.

Glad to hear it. When this thread began, I emailed the seller, friendly tone & no accusations that he was trying to dupe people, suggesting that he contact PSA about it and included some details about how to go about it and such. Never heard back from him so I appreciate he went ahead and contacted them.
