1961 Mantle - any thoughts on a PSA grade ???

Just wanted to ask the opinion of the board on this Mantle

I'm thinking PSA 4 maybe a 5 but worried about the wax stain and I am hoping I don't get a qualifier you thoughts?

I remember in the past I saw someone get rid of the wax stain by rubbing it with lighter fluid .... but was wondering if PSA would catch it.

LMK Thanks Craig

I'd say 4 with a stain qualifier on the back.

If you ask for no qualifier, I would think around a 4. In the past I have used panty hose to remove wax stains, by gently rubbing in a circular motion. I saw the chat about using lighter fluid, but can't vouch for it. JMHO

I think you may be conflating "Registry" rules with PSA grading standards.

While a "qualifier" will drop the value of your card by 2 grades, it's not as easy to say with qualifiers.

I'm not sure how the ST will affect value - I'll have to defer to the experts here.

    Good luck!

Panty Hose works very well ... but only if the stain is on the front of the card ... not the reverse.

Doug, thanks for the additional info. I forgot to mention that. Too bad it doesn't work on backs image

Again thanks for all the comments and advice ......

its a card my Brother bought me for my birthday a couple years back and I am in the process of putting together a 1961 set, was hoping I could get it graded and thought it would look nice in a PSA holder, maybe even start to nibble away at a 1961 set graded ... although with a limited budget it may take a couple years.
