I remember him pinch hitting in 1980! R.I.P. Saturnino Orestes Armas "Minnie" Miñoso Arrieta. A truly great player. I bought the card not the holder.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Such a sad day! He was my dad's favorite player! Any mention of Minnie Minoso and my dad would go on and on about how fast Minnie was at stealing bases! mccardguy1 from the board was nice and awesome to send my dad an Exhibit card of Minnie Minoso back in 2012! To this day that card stands beside pictures of all the kids and grand kids! His memory will live forever! image

RIP Minnie, I met him at one of the Nationals where he was signing his book....one of the nicest players I have met over the years. Talked to everyone, very gracious. Still have the book to this day.

I may have told this story before but I used to see Minnie at a couple of the bars around Wrigley Field after Cubs games. My friends would call him Minnie the Moocher because it seemed everyone would by him drinks when they realized who he was and he never turned down a cold one. I would buy him a drink because I wanted to hear his baseball stories. He will be sorely missed around Wrigley and baseball has certainly lost a legend who should have found his way to Cooperstown by now.

He said he didn't want to go into the HOF after he died because he wanted to enjoy it. Sad.

I was fortunate enough to meet him at the unveiling of the Ernie Banks Statue on Opening Day of 2008. It was a cold and rainy day. He was standing there alone when I recognized him. I said there's Minnie Minoso. My wife said Minnie who? I walked over and asked if he would mind taking a picture with a Cubs fan. He said as long as you don't blame me if the camera breaks. Then we shook hands as the picture was taken. Man, did he have HUGE hands! He was such a nice man. I later sent a donation to his foundation and he signed the photograph for me. I was sad to see that he passed. R.I.P. Mr. Minoso. A true baseball great.

    Thanks
    Craig
