1981 OPC pack rippage...all gray backs!!!UPDATE-opened 9 more packs 3/5

i purchased 6 raw 1981 opc baseball packs about 10 days ago and received them today...so far ive opened 3 of them and every card is a gray back variation!!! a few nice hits as well....

These are THE most difficult cards to find centered of any OPC Baseball set issued - PERIOD!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the packs? I just haven't seen a lot of 1981 OPC unopened for sale in a while so curious what they're going for.

Phillip, I love the 81 OPC set. It is so tough to find even close to centered. The Gray Back are almost impossible. Nice find!!

Fantastic find!!

I busted an 81 box a few years ago and half the packs were gray backs. I have about a dozen well centered commons that should be 9s. Are they worth grading? Is there a market?

I did send in the Blyelven and that graded a PSA Mint 9 Gray Back. I also have a raw gray back Raines RC that is likely a PSA 8.

Any advice?

If i find one its yours dan! Hopefully the additional 9 packs i ordered are all gray backs as well!

Tom will have a better grasp on projected print run, but from what I've seen the 81 OPC set is less than 5% of the Topps print run. Then I'd say that about 5% of the OPC print run came in Gray back variation.
Very tough issue, let alone in gray back.

Well centered gray back Raines RC is a nice hit! Always liked Grich too, since I met him. One hell of a nice guy!

I have approx 1/3 of the set in graybacks...i originally was looking for a mint henderson, rose, or ryan, then realized they were ALL graybacks...not sure yet if im going to try to complete the set..the better cards will be sent to psa for grading at some point...im pretty confident on lots of 8s, several 9s, and possibly a few 10s! I did find a nice nolan ryan, but still no sighting of a henderson or rose
