Investment comparison

If you could purchase (13) 1980 Topps
Bird/magic RCs in psa 8 or a wax case of
1983 Topps baseball which has the greater
Investment potential?

Speaking solely in terms of investment, I would have to say an index fund.

these aren't exactly the same thing in terms of value, unless you're busting the case by the box

i probably like the 1983 case better, but it's close

    Interesting comparison. Since we're looking at roughly $5000 - $5500, I'll take option C and go with 2.5 1980 Topps Bird/Magic PSA 9's

Good post on the psa 9's...... So that brings another
Question. Let's say you have 1 psa 9 or 5 PSA 8's...in 5 years which has more value?

I think you should always buy the highest grade you can afford, although make sure you're buying the card not the grade.

Seems like kind of a random comparison, but definitely agree with others that you should take the money and buy 1 or 2 high grade 9's of the Bird/Magic. The 8's are just far too common to have significant impact investment wise. I'd definitely go with the 1983 Topps wax case over all the 8's, but find a plan "C" option and go with that

Best investment strategy is to scour for 8s that deserve to be 9s. Crack and resubmit.

    Phase III = PROFIT.

Depends on the scarcity of the card in a 9 versus an 8? Kind of like a Brett rookie in an 8 versus a 9. The only good thing about multiple cards is you can sell a few if they appreciate, but with just one card it is an all or nothing proposition.

I should have added that in the post. Only the last card (ungraded) is mine.

Looks nice. You going to grade it?

I would take a case over cards if the values were equal

It is currently on its way to PSA, I'll post the grade when it pops.

Would what you are paying for either of these not have a lot to do with what the answer would be?
