What is a better format to sell excess raw widget Proof and SMS coins...........

1. in 5 coin proof set format in aftermarket holders; or

2. in traditional roll format [i.e. 20 half dollars, 40 quarters, 50 dimes, 40 nickels and 50 cents].

    It depends.

    I have had pretty good luck selling proof sets in capital plastic holders. Especially for sets in the 50's. Sometimes someone will want a set in the 60's, but not too often. I could usually get bid for them if I was lucky.

    I've had less success selling dimes and quarters in roll quantities. People want to pay for the 90% and will lowball you. So you can sell them if you want to let them go like bullion. I kept mine.

    Proof cents and nickels - you might as well give away to the young numismatists at a show - or donate them to the local coin club. I donated all of mine.

    It's not hard to wholesale rolls if you are willing to separate out the bottom 25% or
    so for spending money. Wholesale on most of the rolls is pretty strong but finding
    buyers takes time.
