I don't know the date of the site, but it thinks ACG may have went out of business...

<< <i> PCGS has paid Mr. Hager $100,000 for his expertise, patents, and inventions. >>
I wonder if this is just a flat fee, sounds like it from this and other statements regarding the patent. Think of the royalty fees that could have accumulated if it had been structured as a flat fee or percentage of each slabbed coin. And I've never heard of NGC buying the rights to the patent. Is their slab different enough that only PCGS paid?
Just throwin' it out there...
Can you see some way off in the future numismatic market where the scaricity of the holder the coin is in from some historical TPG (lets say they are all defunct or whatever) is more of a factor than how accurately graded it really is as long as it looks nice. Sort of like National Bank Notes where bank scarcity is more of a price determinant than condition. I am thinking of putting together a set like his picture but different coins, not the same date / type so as to have variety. Would make nice display at a show for conversation. I can just c some guy picking out an ACG or Tru View and saying "Tell you what I will take one of those, don't have one."
I remember being set up at a Houston show at Greenspoint Mall years ago (we call it Gunspoint bc of the area) and Alan Hager of ACG had an area across aisle from my table he had his slab machine and was promoting his grading service. There were people lining up to submit and the topic of conversation floating across seemed on how to make money on ebay. One guy in the show I was showing coins too had his packet from Alan and said he had submitted 100 coins and how he liked their grading/ submission price along with the green color on their holders and proudly proclaimed "I am an NTC Authorized Dealer now." He also had some books authored by Alan he had bought at the show. He was moving to Florida to "buy from those retired people" set up a shop and sell NTC coins on ebay. I wonder how things turned out for him.
He also started NTC? That I didn't know.
