Glendale Coin Club 2015 Medals by Daniel Carr - in Copper & Silver (MEDALS ARE IN - ALL HAVE BEE

Because everyone in our club, as well as many others outside of our club, seemed to like our 2014 55th anniversary medals so much, the Glendale Coin Club has once again decided to have medals struck for our members. And once again, because of the support this forum gives to our club each October when we sell our gold/silver coin raffle tickets, we have decided to invite forum members to purchase medals too if they are interested.
We have again commissioned Daniel Carr to strike our medals and he has prepared images of our 2015 design which are posted below. The medals will be 39mm in diameter and we think the design came out really great.
The obverse will be the same as our 2014 medals, featuring the design from the 1925-S California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Half Dollar which will be the size of an actual half dollar surrounded by our club name in incused lettering inside a sunken ring.

The reverse design is based on the 1849 Pacific Company $5 Gold coin with its iconic and popular cap/rays/stars design which will be the size of a $5 gold piece and will be dated 2015. Last year, Heritage auctioned a PCGS AU58 graded example of the Pacific Company $5 gold piece for $763,750! Link to Heritage Auction. Given that price tag, these medals will be the only opportunity for most of us to own a piece with this great design.

We are once again selling our club medals on a pre-order basis only so that all can be made in a single run. On or about March 17, we will send in our final count of medals to be struck and we hope to have delivery by early to mid-May. After that run, we will instruct Mr. Carr to cancel our 2015 reverse die and no more of these medals will be produced. We're not sure how many will be made as it will be dependent on how many pre-orders we receive. So far, it is looking like the number ordered will be about the same or maybe even less than our 2014 medal (see mintage figures below). Please note that our club may issue a smaller version of the medal later in the year (we're considering a quarter-ounce gold version) and we also will likely use the obverse design with the bear again on future medals. After mid-March, we will take no additional orders and you will have to rely on the secondary market if you wish to obtain one of these medals. For reference, our 2014 medals have been very popular and in the aftermarket I have seen copper examples sell in the $30-$60 range and silver examples sell in the $60-$125 range!
The pre-order prices of the medals are as follows:
39mm Copper Medal = $20 shipped
39mm Silver .999 One Ounce Medal ("ONE TROY OZ. 999 SILVER" marked on edge) = $50 shipped
...or get one of each of our copper and silver medals for $60 shipped!
Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to place an order.
Thanks again!
Also, you can see in the mintage information below, we struck 9 medals in 50 grams (1.6+ troy ounces) of .999 gold for club members who wished to purchase them. One of our members currently has their example (certified by ANACS as MS69) listed on eBay if you were interested in acquiring one of those very low mintage pieces:

If any of you were interested in our 2014 medals in copper or silver, I do have some extras I'd be willing to sell for a discount to the prices they've been selling on eBay. Just let me know.

5/30/15 UPDATE... the medals are done and were delivered to me this weekend!! They are AWESOME looking!!!! Daniel Carr did an amazing job on these and I'm confident everyone who ordered will be very happy with them. With the Long Beach show this coming week, I will probably not ship them out until next week, but will be in touch with each of you who ordered when yours go out. Thanks again for supporting our coin club!!!
