Anyone pick up the fifth edition of the overton catalog?

I saw it at a store today and had to have it. I hope it doesn't have the errors that edition 4 had.

If you check out Dave Rutherford's site (click on Dealers / References) you will see there are as many errors in edition 3 as 4, and 5 has its share.

I have all three but I use edition 4 exclusively. Because I went to the trouble of annotating all the pages with the latest corrections, including the emission order which is essential.

Some say the photos in edition 3 are better. Edition 5 has better paper and Overton's son-in-law eliminated some material to trim the size. There are corrections but most of the errors reported by the Bust Half Nut Club were ignored.

They're still the best references out there. Buy any one, spend the time to note mistakes and relax and enjoy one of the greatest series of coins the Mint ever produced.
    Lance.

any truth to the rumor that someone is working on a complete re-do of the book? Charts, updated rarity information, COLOR photographs...
