I love those holders too. Unfortunately I just sold quite a few.

I often can't turn 'em down either!
Fun piece...someone really molested it with their fingerprints...but no doubt original with that signature old ANACS plum toning.

I like the color, and don't mind fingerprints if they aren't splat on the cheek. Those actually make an interesting random pattern. Neat little purchase, the kind that keeps the ol'numismatic blood flowing. image

Those holders with the two letter before the sn are old.
    Great coin in those holders!

I'm not a fan of fingerprinted coins. To me they're in the same category of no-grades.

    Thanks everyone.

Kaz...........very true that pickups like this keep ya going image

PTVETTER...............one of the main reason I picked it up is that it's an old ANACS with a letter prefix

Thanks for posting... RExxxx is one of the cross-over - used by both ANA and Amos after the sale, so the goal is to track down the cross-over point. You've pushed my #s from 2200 -> 3570.

Neat pickup. I like the original toning and those fingerprints aren't that distracting. One of our fellow forum members (Tom DeLorey aka CaptHenway) may have graded your coin since he was a grader at ANACS. In fact those might be his fingerprints.image

Not that crazy about the fingerprinted obverse but love the look of the reverse on this Morgan. The reverse is reason enough for this purchase.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if most of that toming occured in the holder, those early ANA (and PCI) holders tended to turn silver coins very pretty shades of purple, orange and blue. Somewhere I think I still have a 1940s Mercury dime in an old PCI holder marked "95% white" with wild purple and orange toning.

This. Fingerprints drive me crazy; I don't care if they're in an old holder, new holder, or raw. Pass.
