10 Kilo results (more added cuba austrailia UK )

in Jan I purchased 10 kilos (6 lots) world coins from a seller on ebay. Here's the first look of what I found. There were 6 other silver culls and numerous old copper coins and culls along with WW2 zinc coins and a 1933 and 1944 Canada cent in good shape

I really liked the UNC look of the 1946 Ecuador 5 cents and the good shape of the 1937 filled B 10 Rappen.

the two Russian silvers were in nice shape as well.

I also got my first straights settlement coin.

all in all I have to say a nice first haul for under 150$

Very nice straights settlement nickle. In that condition lists for about $20. You said that you purchased 10 kilos. How many coins were in the lot?

certainly an interesting lot you have here. 10KG are a lot of coins.
questions:

did you buy it just for the fun?
or for a possible monetary gain?
If the later, do you think you will come out ahead of the game once the dust settled?
AND one more: Do you really believe that the lot is honestly unsorted?
I have been tempted a few times to do the same, but chickened out so far.

I bought it for the fun of it ive bought a numerous lots over the past 10 years and a lot for sure were searched this one I don't believe was really went thru based on what I received. I also bought a 4 pound lot of world silver that was on yahoo auctions that was unsearched. A US collector received and wanted to sell because never did world coins so I bought at melt value and got a lot of nice pieces but usually most are went thru atleast for something ie silver or gold and rares ect that's just my honest opinion. a lot of times I also check if the seller also sells individual coins which add to a red flag that he searches his/her lots

Yes, olmanjon, I agree, the Straits Settlements piece is really attractive from what I can see. At first I mistook it for a British India piece until I saw the crown. I think that there may be some latent value in the Swiss pieces. They look to be in pretty good condition as well.

Was the lot sold as a bag of coins, or were they in holders of some sort. If they were not in holders of some sort, that would save you money on postage but also even more remarkable that you found as many nice coins as you did.

I have also bought one or two lots of coins but usually in person where I can poke around in it for a minute to gauge how much I may be getting gauged for in the bargain. I also have never bought any lots online like this at least from sellers I do not know in real life.

I imagine that there may be some small profit in the mix if you were to label and sell the individual coins for reasonable prices. Nothing to make you rich, but if you wanted to spend the time you could recoup value.

these coins were shipped all cooped together in bags no holders or anything. they guy said they had been sitting for a few years he bought a antique shop that use to deal in coins and 100 kilos were left over in the shop storage after the sale and he sold them in 1 kilo lots. so I figured id give luck a chance. im gonna look thru again sometime tonight or tomm and see if I can see anything else.
