Looks like they sell for about 2k a set so I'm guessing they offer him $200.image

I'm waiting for the episode where Rick goes home to find him in bed with his wife & Rick just sighs and says "Chum, get back to work. Now."

Thanks for that! I will DVR that episode along with the one at midnight "Money Ball" Season 8/121 with a rare Babe Ruth photo.

I would follow the Pawn Stars show every week but now I don't even turn it on any more I can't stand Chumlee or the grumpy old man.

I agree although I still do watch it. But would like it to be More about the items, less about their acting skills and shenanigans.

It's ALOT better than that Detroit pawn show. That show is straight up GARBAGE. The producer was a former producer of the jerry springer show. Completely scripted!

I like that that Vegas one isn't scripted, but I've never seen an employee get away with the things Chumlee does. Charging Rick interest because he borrowed $50 and didn't pay it back within 8 hours. Taking Rick's credit card without permission to buy himself a birthday gift. Agreeing to pick Rick up at the airport before work and then later demanding to be paid for it. lol

Has anyone ever been to the actual place?

My wife and I went there when we were in Vegas a few years ago and it was essentially a dump. The camera crew makes it out to look pretty spacious, but it's really not very big. There was a pretty long line to get in when we were there, once we got in there was just a lot of jewelry on one side and then a buncha hodge podge on the walls and scattered throughout. It really just looked like any other pawn shop. The only difference is half of the store is now essentially just a gift shop with Chumlee and Old Man coffee mugs, shirts, bumper stickers, etc.

I briefly talked with an employee and I guess the guys on the show are rarely there anymore except filming, which doesn't surprise me.

There were a few pretty cool memorabilia items there when we were there, a Jerry Rice football (don't remember what they were asking for it) and an 89 A's Championship ring (I dunno who it was owned by, and it wasn't for sale.) Outside of that, there really wasn't much else that really caught my eye.

So their infamous highly touted patriots superbowl ring is no longer there?

I know of another hit show on that was on the same channel, that's scripted with actors, but won't ruin it for others. God only knows how many shows are fake now.
  • Living here in Vegas, the store has been here as long as I can remember. It has always, size wise, been like any other pawnshop. What separates it though, are the items they have in the store. I have been to many pawnshops in my life & I have never seen as many quality items as they have. The last time I was in, there were about 10 Picasso's, multiple championship rings, some very rare guns, and they always have some really weird or unusually stuff. They seem to never have something just common. For example, they had a bike, but it wasn't a regular bike you find at a pawnshop for $50. It was a custom job made from an old Stingray frame. You have to look closely as you look around, or it sometimes will look ordinary. They always have quite a few books. Looking closer, I found a 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers yearbook in almost mint condition, $300.

It is true, the main guys are rarely there, but I think if your in Vegas it is well worth going by there. About 2 miles away from them, downtown, you can go to Ultimate Sports Cards & next door is the ToyStore. Jason, who they call upon for expert sports memorabilia advice is almost always there & the guy the call for advice on vintage toys is the owner of the ToyStore, and he is often there.

Cocoa beach..what about the female book expert who's a manager somewhere? She seems to be very much on her game. A little higher class than some on the show.

  • Yes, I know who you mean but do not remember her name or company. I think she is located in a mall in the opposite direction less than 2 miles but I am not sure. If any one remembers her name or company, let us know & I can find out where she is located for sure.

For those of you that may be coming to Vegas, Pawn Stars is located on Las Vegas Blvd in between the strip and downtown. A couple of short blocks over running parallel is Main St. Up & down both Main St & Las Vegas Blvd are quite a few not only antique shops but shops specializing in vintage specialty items. Some of them are really neat with some vintage items that you probably will not see very often. Well worth your while to get away from the slots, tables, bars, clubs, hookers and everything else you can imagine!image

As they say in the opening part of the show. Family comes 1st. Money second. Chumlee may be adopted ?

Are there any real (unscripted) TV shows around ?
