1954 topps set

I'm one year into my 1954 Topps set in PSA 6 with a couple of 6.5s and 7s. I only have 29 so it's slow going. I have paid on average 59% of book including shipping. Stars include Rizzuto,Spahn, Mathews, Snider, and a BVG 6 Hodges. I'm having a great time with this project. Unfortunately my funds are limited and I'm trying to get good deals as I go along.

This thread would be much better with scans image

54 was the first vintage cards that I bought when I was a kid, raw of course. My Mom would go to this flea market and there was a card guy who had them for a quarter a piece. Bad condition, but I didn't care. Never had any major stars, but loved the O'Briens twins card.

Good luck with the scan. Nothing wrong with taking it slow. Better to stay on budget. More time to enjoy putting the set together. Dan is right though. Some scans would definitely spruce up this thread. Sounds like you are getting some good deals on the cards you are picking up. Congrats on that. You will have a great set and a sound investment to show for your patience.

Sounds like you're off to a solid start. I love the Spahn and Mathews cards and that year is my single favorite Snider.
  • And of course, don't forget the rookie of the year, Wally Moon!

This is a great set, no doubt.

edit to add: I have a raw Wally Moon that might grade out at a 6. If you would like it, just shoot me your address via PM & I will send it to you.

Great choice of set!! You'll have fun with this one along the way. I'm just at the end of building this set myself (3 more cards to go). Its taken me almost 6 years at this point. Just be patient and collect some easier to find/cheaper things on the side. Have fun with the journey.
