eBay cutting back on the Seller Promotional free listings?

I have seen far less of the free listing promos and the past two have excluded relisted items. Has anyone else noticed this? Any speculation as to why they are doing this, other than to try to sell more store subscriptions? Do you think we will see more promos in the future or have they fallen by the wayside?

End of month quota??? My last two have come at the very end of the month in Jan and Dec.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I've noticed this as well, though I am getting 100 free per month on a regular basis. I have a hard time listing more than 100 items a month due to time limitations. So it hasn't affected me significantly.

I have an eBay store and for the first 8 or 9 months last year I got 5000 or more free listings per month, for fixed price set time listings. It has certainly dried up since then. Last month it was 1000 listings (for about 5 day period) but like OP said it did not include relistings. This month I got 100 free auctions style listings per day for I think 7 days.
  • Yep, first they took away the "Automatically relist three times" option, and recently the free listings had to be for newly listed items.

It is pushing me toward 30-day BIN's with my 150 free listings each month. I have yet to pay a listing fee and don't plan on starting now.
  • You guys need to get TurboLister, a free application provided by ebay. With TurboLister, after you synchronize your listings, all of your unsold expired listings will go to an Unsold folder in TurboLister. There you have two options, Relist or Sell Similar. To get around the "Exclude relisted items" from the ebay promotion, just select all of your unsold items, and do a "Sell Similar." This will copy all of those items into your Upload folder which you can upload these "new" listings. Just to be safe, I usually do a Duplicate for all of these "new" listings and then delete the original ones that were created by "Sell Similar." And continuing to be careful, I usually do some small mass update to all of the listings such as changing the listing time from 7 to 5 days and then back again. Finally, when I'm ready to list for the promotion, just list one item first to make sure that you aren't charged any fees, and if that goes through with no fees, then upload the rest. This is what I did for the last promotion that only accepted new listings and no re-lists.

I'm still seeing the same number of promotions as before. Usually there is a free listing promotion of some kind every month either auction or BIN. I don't have an ebay store and I've never had to pay a listing fee because of this. I have around 400 listings right now. There are some weeks where I don't have anything listed because I've used up my free 100 listings and they didn't have promotion that month, but that usually doesn't happen often. Of course, I do not depend on ebay sales for my livelihood, so if I don't have any sales for a month or two, it's not a big deal. For those sellers who depend on ebay sales to supplement their income, this setup may not work for them.

I'm assuming that ebay decided to exclude re-lists b/c they're probably seeing stats or hearing complaints from customers about these "Museum Listings" on ebay that have been there months if not years upon years. So it's always good for them to try to take some steps to clear inventory. Of course, most of these museum listings are probably in ebay stores, so they won't be going away still.
  • my fees seems to be the same still

Good advice, but I think even without turbo lister, you can just check the box that selects all items on the page (up to 200 per page) and click 'sell similar' and proceed as usual. That's what I've done and I haven't had any issues regarding getting around the relist exclusion this way.
