The foils don't scan very well. Come on Mr Jeter.

<< <i>Psa grades tougher then bgs does on jeters I assume. >>
Just curious, why do you assume this?
<< <i>Very nice! Still love that whole set just as much as I did back then. >>
+1
Upper Deck again raised the bar and created the "premium" market with this release.
I remember pulling an Emmitt All Pro out of a box and being blown away. I still love that All Pro set and put together a 1993 Upper Deck SP Master Set a while ago.
The football boxes were ridiculously hot with the now all but forgotten Drew Bledsoe leading the rookie class.
Football or Baseball, those foil rookies especially are unforgiving with chipping on the colored corners and surface issues.
I hope you do well on the Jeter... it takes guts to open these boxes given how tough it is to get high grades to cover the cost.

<< <i>Nice pull! I'm not familiar with the set...what is the normal Jeters per box ratio? >>
24 packs x 12 cards per pack = 288 cards
290 cards per set and a few inserts I think...like 1/9 packs or something like that.
So its pretty close to 1 Jeter per box...slightly worse than that, but just barely.
I have no idea what collation is like so I don't know if distribution is even, or if you might find 3-10 Jeters in one box, and a decent chance of no Jeters at all.

<< <i>Wow, how did UD mess up the Gwynn card like that. It's not like it it a front shot!! >>
Tony wearing a Scott Sanders jersey. he forgot his at the hotel that day.
That Gwynn card did freak me out at first. Thought is was a rare error but after perusing ebay realized it was nothing special.
I have an unrelated question. Either I was seeing things or something is strange. I don't like to look at my orders online when they pop but check a lot and try to just look at the top few cards only if they were done. I have to do the one card at a time look when physically in hand. I could swear I saw my only current order there showing grades online, so I backed out and awaiting the grading done email. Nothing for a few days so I checked again and got the order being processed message. Was I mind freaking when I saw the grades simply vanish ?
N6: MINIMUM SIZE REQUIREMENT 1993 SP 273 Johnny Damon Foil Card
NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1993 SP 285 Manny Ramirez Foil Card
N6: MINIMUM SIZE REQUIREMENT 1993 SP 279 Derek Jeter Foil
Sorry to see that
These boxes are definitely dangerous. Nothing really in them for big time except that Jeter and for 600 bucks a box it's a total waste if striking out with an N6.

<< <i>Not wanting to hijack the thread, but since we are talking about SP Jeters....I noticed that BGS Jeters sell for considerably less than PSA Jeters. On a few issues, like the 84 football Marino and Elway, this is apparent because of the sheet cut cards, but is the MS rejection a reason on these? I have two 8.5 BGS Jeters, that sell for a lot less than the PSA 8.5's >>
In general PSA cards always sell for more than BGS or SGC. I really don't see why anyone sends cards to BGS or SGC especially if the intent is to resell.
It also seems a majority of people subbing Jeter SP from boxes lately gets Minimum size R, kind of weird. Best to keep that box sealed if purchased.
I did buy a BGS 9 Jeter a while back (subgrades were good...with a 9 for corners). The intent was to try to cross grade it to a PSA 9. I sent it in (still in the BGS holder) to PSA and they said it didn't meet the requirements to cross. So it was mailed back to me in the BGS case.
That was my first and probably last time to try to crossgrade something. I was just too nervous to crack it out and submit it raw
