What's the deal with the PSA flip on this 1981 Montana - No Numerical grade

I referenced the PSA flip history thread and did not see any similar examples. Is this flip legit? What's the deal with no numerical grade?

Wow. An oldie but a goodie there. They're rare, but I have seen a couple erroneous flips that did not include the grade number on them. I believe that slab is legit.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Like Andy, I've seen just a few older flips without a numerical grade on them.
All were with the longer bar codes, probably around the 1994-1995 grading period.

I'd have no problem buying that card. Looks legit to me. Centered a little low and
with that print dot by the football, I would bid accordingly.

I agree. I like my 9's to be centered. The top to bottom centering on that one should make that an 8 going by eye appeal. Not to mention the giant print dot by the football. Very poor 9.

Is there a wrinkle on the back in the lower part of the card by the word Quarterback or is it the scan?

It's a scratch on the slab.

I expanded the pic with my phone and can see the scratch on the slab's surface and the shadow it casts on the card.
