Interesting, thanks for posting. I feel like I've seen that card a million times and never noticed a variation among the stacks of them before. Would like to hear any follow-up info you find.
I saw a post over 5 years ago about it. With all of the Pro Set errors from that time frame popping up I dug up the thread. I would have thought in that time frame more would have taken notice. Link

The author of that is a member here who pops up from time to time (the JWG I was referring to).

Yes, this was a popular variation the first 3-4 times it was offered sale...I think back in 2005 or 2006. I wrote a quick blog entry on it a few years back too.

Not likely as Beckett lists variations that do not exist. Then there is the issue of the wrongbacks, which normally wouldn't fall into variation territory but some have variant text on their reverses (Mogilny, for example).
All-Stars have light blue or purple line on back under names. Modano, Kip Miller, Jimmy Waite, Dean Evason, Craig Muni, John Cullen, Keith Primeau with incomplete circle around Wings logo on back...Brent Ashton and Don Sweeney remain unconfirmed. Ashton may be a plate/print flaw missing black ink in corner where position should be. Mark Fitzpatrick correction seemingly does not exist.

ETA: FWIW, none of the 10 on COMC are the left cropping version.

I don't know much on hockey variations, but these were pretty easy to find on eBay. JWG would be the expert on these.
