Has Anyone Filed an Insurance Claim Using the eBay Insurance?

I traditionally use USPS insurance but it's a pain when using eBay labeling because the postage never matches what USPS charges and buying through eBay would be much simpler. So I was thinking about using the eBay insurance option. My concerns are that I heard they're not bonded, that they don't pay for packages shipped to CA and I don't have experience trying to collect from them. I rarely ever have a problem with packages but I don't want to take chances with expensive cards.

Long term, I plan to get collector's insurance but I don't currently have it. If anyone has an experience making a claim against the eBay insurance provider, I'd be interested to hear how it went.

Thanks.

I have filed a claim a couple times for items that were damaged during shipping. They pay off a lot quicker and with less hassle than the USPS. If I ship anything to California that requires insurance I just ship that package through the USPS site.

I have filed one claim w/ ShipInsure for a lost international package (had to wait 30 days I believe) and one for shipping damage. Both claims were paid with very little hassle.

I will add that a friend of mine that sells on eBay has had multiple claims for lost packages (generally international) and damaged packages. I do not recall the total # but ShipInsure will no longer allow him to use their service. They cut him off for exceeding their threshold of claims. They did pay all the claims but the option is no longer available for him on eBay.
