Tick tock - tick tock...no replies? Really?

Show's just 2 days away now gang! Am I the only person gonna be at this show from the board? I sure hope not!

Looking forward to setting up again, although will miss hanging with Tom this go around. We'll see if I can survive and behave on my own.

Teaser/off topic for the thread, you decide...
    1) I've got a "modern day" 3,000 club baseball that still needs 6 signatures, but 4 of those are at the show this weekend. Post-show, I will only need Cal and Jeter to complete it!
    2) I'm down to 3 cards to complete my 1956 Topps set, GPA is 6.5.
    3) I just completed a 1986 Fleer basketball graded set, GPA is 8.7. It may find it's way to market very soon (can anyone say SET BREAK?!?!?!).
    4) I just had a couple major purchases, unfortunately they won't be with me this weekend but I NEED TO SELL SOME STUFF so I can continue turning my inventory. I will be in a dealing mood this weekend at the show, so come check it out!

Houston is a bit far for me....but good luck at the show! Hope we can see some pics of the new major purchases and the 3,000 hit ball.

As for the 1986 fleer basketball...I'm building a set in PSA 8 with a few cheap 9s sprinkled in. I need about 30 more for the set. If you're looking to break the set I'd be interested in a handful!

One final bump to stir some interest - anyone else planning on coming to the show?

I should be pretty easy to find hopefully, I'll have a couple glass display cases out front on one side, and a bunch of signed/framed 16x20s on the other.

Please stop in a say hi if you come through. Should be a pretty good show.

Incredible ball!! Did you start that ball off from a Pete Rose ball? also, did Boggs resign over a faded signature or was there a pen failure?

i bought this with several names on there to start (including pete) and took it from there.

good eye on the boggs - yes, pen on him had faded and since he was right here in my backyard i felt it was worth the money for him to "fill it back in".

it's an imperfection for sure, but considering i haven't seen one recently with more than 15 signatures (and a mountain of them are missing Gwynn due to his quick passing) i feel pretty good mine is in the top 5% or better of these

ripken is gonna be a couple places later this year, i may go to cooperstown for biggio this summer so i can probably get cal at a show there (they usually do all those HOFers since most show up for the ceremonies), leaving only a trip to steiner for jeter and then done with this project

until ichiro sticks around and potentially gets there, but that's a couple years away i suspect

Sick ball! I have one started that hasnt gotten too far! Listen to this dilemma: When Boggs signed it, he added his HOF year. I thought about trying to remove it, but then I just left it on there. So when I paid for Kaline to sign it, and did not pay for his inscription, what does he do? He adds his HOF year as well! Kaline has this reputation as being a grouchy old man, but in my one and only encounter with him (during HOF weekend), he couldnt have been nicer. He added his inscription for free, even though I didnt ask for it and inscription charges were something like $25, and then posed for a selfie.

Anyways, as for Ripken he does not attend every year to Induction Weekend. He's pretty hit or miss. However, what I wanted to point out is that when he does attend, he has yet to do a paid sitdown signing in town. Apparently he's very gracious when the people who go after freebies encounter him, such as following the parade and as he enters and exits the HOF for the reception - but no paid signings to date.

    Hope this helps.

it's cool - not really interested in risking an in person signature on this ball at this point, i need the "discipline and opportunity to direct" that a paid signing offers me

ripken does the shows, i'm sure he'll turn up somewhere this year and i'll pay to get him then
