Alright, what is going on with 4 Sharp Corners? I've seen a lot of threads since I've been here like "Really, this is a 10?"...or "I can't believe this got a 10!" etc. 4 Sharp Corners is always the seller when these threads occur. I'm not interested in getting in hot water here, but whenever I decide to buy cards from them for my set, (they pop new cards weekly), I always have to weed out "bad ones" because I'm a stickler for centering. What's really going on?
Always looking for OPC "tape intact" baseball wax boxes, and 1984 OPC baseball PSA 10's for my set. Please PM or email me if you have any available.
I've been building a 1986 Fleer basketball set in PSA 8. I've probably purchased 25 or so cards from 4SC. I bet if I laid out all 100ish cards I have in the set, most boardmembers could pick out the 25 PSA 8's that came from 4SC vs. other sources with a 90% accuracy rate.
I buy from 4sc sometimes. It's good to pick up some common inexpensive rookies that I want but don't feel like bidding ebay and paying shipping on multiple cards. I would never buy a top top rookie cards from them though. For example... I'm fine buying Bernie kozar and phil Simms rookie in a psa from them but I would rather not buy my montana PSA from them.
That Zisk is an ugly 9 because it's diamond cut but if it's not off centered at its worst part then it probably falls under the guidelines of a 9? The Kelly centering looks off because of the text. Personally I wouldn't pay 10 money for it but then again I think paying 10 money is wasting money anyways.. I personally think that is a beautiful card and if they ever fixed that ugly looking Mylar sleeve all crimped andd wrinkled I would be in the market for one but a CS is a better look...

Bingo. This is par for the course. Last week I went through about 100 PSA 9 1972s from an eBay set break, and about 80% of them had varying degrees of tilt/diamond cut. PSA is very consistent about what they penalize and what they don't. Still, it's beyond frustrating to sift through PSA 9 junk like this, and then submit beautiful cards that look like 10s and get 7s because of a piece of snow, a surface bubble, etc. Something is out of whack with priorities.
This is kind of the opposite of what we see a lot on the board. People are confused why the cards they submit with balls-on centering and sharp corners don't come back 9's and 10's. Obviously, there are other factors that many aren't great at spotting (for the record, I'm one of them. I would make a horrible grader). So while we can all look at a scan and judge the corners (to some extent) and the centering, there are clearly surface issues that are imperceptible that are capable of knocking a card down.
4SC seems to know exactly how to find those issues. They also don't discard a card for low-end 10 centering just because it's not the most pleasant to the eye, assuming the card is gem mint in all the other departments. I've bought quite a bit from them and have always been happy because I buy the card and not the holder. They're not trying to screw anyone. They don't use stock photos and then deliver a card you may not like. After each example is sold, they scan the next one for sale and relist. I've found that by waiting through one or two sales I can find the card that I want from them.
As Omar would say, it's all in the game. The whole hobby is one big game and we're all eager participants. Their prices are more than reasonable (at least in the areas I search), they show you the exact card you're buying, and they deliver quickly and safely.

ETA: How is centering measured on that set: red borders only or the blue text on the right side? If the latter, it looks like the 9 & 10 got swapped.
