Seeking opinions on these baseball autos being auctioned off tomorrow morning (Mantle, Mays, William

There's an auction I attend every other Friday which usually has pretty good sports items. I always go on Thursday to preview and thought I'd share these and seek opinions, if it doesn't bother anyone. These will be auctioned off tomorrow. Wondering about authenticity and potential value. Things at this auction tend to sell dirt cheap, so I'm planning to place a few bids and see what happens. They all seem to be professionally framed.

If anyone lives near Harrisonburg, VA the auction house I'm talking about is Green Valley Auctions.

Some of my pics didn't come out too well. Sorry about that. This is only part of the sports lot, there's also some boxing and other sport items. I don't know enough about baseball autos and authenticity to feel comfortable bidding.

The Mays and Mccovey is 100% fake....I want to say the Mantle is too, but I know the forgers have his down to a science.

PS - Koufax and Snider are fakes.

    Is this a local auction?

Don't bid anymore than the price of the frames. Framing can get expensive, and if you get those, rip those out and put in real ones. If you are bidding on those for the autographs, you are going to get your feelings hurt, because those are all fakes.
  • I agree, the Koufax & Snider look bad to me. The Koufax appears to be written slowly plus I have never seen the abrupt stop & back down on the x.

The Snider is a good imitation, but an imitation.

Caveat: I'm no expert in any way whatsoever.

Caveat 2: I realize autos can change over time.

That said, my brothers kid goes to school with Willie McCovey's grandkid or great grandkid or whatever. McCovey donated an autographed ball to an auction the school had and my brother bid on it for me. The signature on that ball is not even close to the one on the picture you posted.

I also got a ball auto'ed by Sandy Koufax at the National in Anaheim in the mid 90's(forgot what year). The autograph on that ball does not match the one you have in that picture. The loops in the S and X are not the same, and neither is the top tail of the K. And as I understand it, Sandy's auto is very consistent.

Do they have COA's? If so, are the COA's based out of Florida? I attend several auctions each week and over the past couple of years many of the small, local auctions have received autographed material on consignment from Florida. I laugh when I see a grouping of them for the first time at one of my regular auctions. Additionally, they often slip in common player autographs in the grouping.

Looks like the second Mays and Ryan have holograms on them....who are they from? If they are from Say Hey and the Nolan Ryan Foundation, those are ok.

The first Mays has a holo as well. All 3 appear to be from the same company and start with F403, so I would guess they're either all good or all bad.

The Mays, McCovey, and Aaron do not compare favorably with 70s era sigs I have in hand. Agree with Bobby, the framing alone could be worth a decent chunk of change.
