i would think it's just strike doubling and coneca wouldn't assign numbers to such

I think it's Machine Doubling as well.

    It is definitely NOT DDR-002

  • Yeah, I'm gonna guess strike doubling too. The doubling looks shelf-like and I don't see any split-serifs in the photos. CONECA only has two DDRs listed for the 1965 quarter. DDR-001 is also FS-801. DDR-002 is going to have a different RDV. Can you get some photos of the N of UNUM and the leaf directly left of the left bunch of arrows? If it really is DDR-001 (FS-801) there will be a small serif on the N of UNUM. DDR-002 is going to have a pointed leaf left of the left bunch of arrows.

I am also in the strike doubling camp.
  • Hard to tell. But I'm gonna guess the reverse is RDV-003 with a very small serif on the N of UNUM, which would mean if it's true hub doubling, it would have to be DDR-001, which is also FS-801. (DDR-002 would have RDV-005.) But I'm still thinking it's strike doubling.

Here are all of CONECA's listings for 1965-1996 doubled dies.

And Here are the RDV listings.
