Happened to me last month. The expensive and sometimes elusive 1971 Topps Greatest Moments set. Bought Jim Kaat thinking Jim Perry. Both Jims, both Twins, both pitchers. Ended up also purchasing the Perry from the same seller.

I never get Gino Cappelletti and John Cappelletti confused, but I seem to be the only one. eBay listings can be dicey.

I've owned and seen all the cards in the sets I collect a hundred times, and have no clue which cards I actually need, so I just go by the numbers.

This is my primary MO as well, but for one auto set I'm working on Bobby Murcer/Burt Hooten.

I don't get players confused but sometimes I buy dupes of cards I already have. It comes down to a lack of organization which I blame on a lack of space to get my stuff together.

Someday when the kids move out I'll have an extra room to do so. However, I'm in no rush because by the time that happens I'll be about 15 years older and who wants to get older?
