Question about ebay's return package labels

So I just had a SNAD item received yesterday. Seller did a bait and switch.
I filed with eBay and the seller accepted so I printed out the label provided and was surprised that
I was not charged for the label. Looks like eBay will suck the return shipping cost from the seller. My question is, has
anyone had to do a return that was out of the country and does it work the same?
I used to file with PP, but I had to eat the return shipping cost. Guess I'm switching now.

  • Not sure about out of country, but eBay recently changed it's SNAD return policy to require sellers to cover the cost of return shipping. Let me dig up a link....

    Link

    Relevant part:

"Sellers will be responsible for return shipping when there’s an issue with the item or the item wasn’t as described."

    New for Fall 2014.
  • Just had a return opened on this week on some audio equipment I sold (about 45 lbs total weight). Not very pleased with the cost of the return shipping I charged. I was breaking down a studio I used to operate with a friend and selling most of the outboard gear and consoles via ebay. Not anymore, I'd rather haggle on craigslist then get popped for $50 because someone didn't realize analog equipment doesn't plug right into their computer...
  • I knew Casey was going to be the first one to chime in lol.
Thanks bud. Yea, I'm glad they're making sellers pay for return shipping.
I do frequently buy from Canada, but to return with tracking is about $7.
So I wonder if its the same deal with tracking on the return label to Canada.

I do love my eBay policy threads. And, I have an over-posting issue. I'm working on it, OK??

Also, slightly on-topic, I have been excited lately to have found a way to ship with tracking to Canada for under $3.00. You can generate a label using PayPal's Ship Now (First Class International, Large Envelope) that has tracking and manually add the number (begins with LK ...) on eBay. It's been huge for me because it provides an easy way to offer Free Shipping on all my items, since it roughly equalizes the cost between the U.S. and Canada and does so at a low rate. Thought I'd mention it, even though you're talking about buying, because so many people have questions about Canadian shipping and I've never seen someone talk about the option.
