Shipping Damage delivering to PSA - cards being returned

After submitting several thousand cards for grading, this is my first (and hopefully last) time receiving this email from customer service:

This is a courtesy email informing you we were unable accept your package after reaching our P.O. Box. When the package had arrive, it had been received at the P.O. Box damaged with a tear in the edge or corner. We were unable to determine if there had been any damage to the items sent or if any were missing. In this situation, we cannot accept the package and have the package returned to you.

I'm curious to see what condition the shipping box and cards are in after being returned. This package was a January special and consisted of 3 separate orders. Nothing high dollar, but an eye opener for purchasing insurance. Anyone else run into PSA rejecting your package due to this?

Thanks,

David (LD_Ferg)

I hope they at least taped it shut and tried to repair the package so prying fingers don't wander into it.

I was thinking the same. I'd appreciate a follow up when you get them back.

  • I've had it happen and the damage was minor. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'll post a follow up when the box is received. Fingers crossed for minimal damage and no loss of any contents. Lots of bubble wrap used, so hopefully all is well.

    Thanks,

I'm sure everything is cool David. They're just being cautious.

I agree, it is a liability thing, I am sure the cards are fine.
I have had packages from psa to be damaged like they are describing and everything was just fine.

This. I bet the package is not even truly damaged.

MT, have you seen videos on line from other packaging services and drivers damaging packages?

  • With the CC special for Feb increasing to $7.00 per card (it was $5.50 in January), I would call and ask if it can be resubmitted at $5.50 per card due to the circumstances. Good luck.

    Edited for grammar.

I have, it still doesnt explain the massive consistency with which the USPS loses packages, damages them, doesnt scan the tracking, and refuses to pay insurance on valid claims (which is a scam anyway). Not saying all the people there are useless, but the system they use has enough kinks in it that there should be a better way of doing things

Package received. Everything looks good. Back to Cali it goes in another box.

Glad to hear nothing was damaged or missing. Is USPS picking up the cost to resend?

Hopefully they will still honor the January pricing?

    Glad the contents were safe.

USPS is not picking up any of the cost.

I'll inquire about maintaining the Jan CC price.

    Thanks,

I don't know what is up @ the USPS lately. In the past several months I have had more issues than the previous 10 years. First they just simply lose a package and every time I call them they say they are tracking it, but I never hear back from them and tracking shows it stuck in Memphis since Dec 19th. Then today I notice a rather expensive package I sent to New York State has somehow just arrived and departed from Anchorage Alaska ? WTF ?
