My post SB lunch with hopeful HOFer

So I spent my lunch hour today with hopeful future HOFer Roger Craig. We've become friends over the past handful of years and it's always fun talking football or sports in general with him. Today we mostly discussed SB & HOF.

Obviously he too was shocked that Seattle didn't run, but he had NE.

We also discussed the latest HOF class and his possibilities, which are somehow seeming more remote.

He totalled over 13k from scrimmage (rush+rec) and averaged over 4yd/carry for career. First 1000/1000 player. 73 TDs. 3x SB Champ. 4 time ProBowl. AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year (88), UPI NFC Player of the Year (88), and one of the few members of the All-Decade team not yet enshrined.

I think he's better than Terrell Davis and Edge. I hope he gets in alongside his teammates. Fingers crossed.

I also got him to sign these:

It's be nice to see him get in by next year with SB in Bay Area, but his trend line doesn't look good. Gotta hope for the last chance push for 2018, since LT is eligible after next year.

That's awesome that you're friends with an athlete of that stature! I have a lot of respect for Craig, as his Niners teams are my first real memory of watching football. Great looking cards too!

Thanks for sharing. Not every day that the average person can have lunch with a former pro football player.
  • I'd like to see both Craig and Chuck Foreman get into the HOF.
