1856-s Quarter advice

I have this decent 1856-s quarter in a ANACS G 6 slab. It is the old yellow slab style. I think it would go VG8, I don't know about 10. BER is all there and 1/2 of the I,TY. Is the price difference between grades worth a submission or just leave it as is and inflate the price on it when I decide to sell. I can't really find much good sales data on original coins. Thanks for your opinions.

This is from my own personal experience with better date seated quarters in ANACS slabs. The last one was an 1842-0 sd in Good-4. The ANACS coins have poor liquidity vs. PCGS....at least at the stated grade. I had to pull teeth to get dealers to even look at my 1842-0. Every one of them said, I'd pay "X" in a PCGS holder, which was my ask price or higher. My coin ended up upgrading to PCGS Good 6. So both the grade and liquidity improved. I suspect your 56-s will end up the same in a VG PCGS holder....unless there's some problem lurking we cannot see that caused ANACS to net it down to Good. ANACs coins are basically treated as raw....dealers will assume the worst case and pay accordingly. Of course, this doesn't stop those same dealers from asking PCGS money for their ANACS coins....lol.

If there's any chance at all that coin could come back body bagged, then I wouldn't risk it. Depsite the decent prices for Good-VG 1855-s to 1859-s seated quarters, I'm not much of a fan of them in those grades. They just aren't all that tough in low grades.

It is what it is. Don't know what you have itn it but the change in price from 6-8 is $100. You would only get about half after grading if you can get it. I think it's accuate at 6 for the obverse. 1/3 shield is missing. Might sell better raw. FWIW
It is not that life is short, but that you are dead for so very long.

It's a close one-only you can decide if it is worth the gamble. I would just enjoy it as is or unslab it when ready to sell and sell it raw. For some reason there seem to be many who would gamble more on a raw coin than on a possibly undergraded already slabbed one. JMHO.

Looks like a match imo to the PCGS photo grade VG8 obverse, and better than the VG10 reverse. I'd have no problem valuing this at VG8 levels if it's not cleaned or wiped.

    Link to photo grade

I found it neat that the circ quarter grading set included the 42-0 sd, 49-0, 50-0, 57-s, 67-s (twice!), 75-cc, and a very rare 69-0..............whaaaaat? Oops, how'd that one get in there. image
Actually, it's pretty obvious that small "o" mm on the reverse for the VG08 coin is from an 1891-0. Interesting too that the VG08 reverse is actually nicer than the VG08. See, it's a lot more than rocket science.

Thanks for all the responses and opinions. I figure I will just leave it as is and try to get decent vg money for it when I decide to sell. Thanks for the input.
