Strongly and Attractively Toned 1882-CC Morgan Dollar PCGS MS66/CAC

The data pool for pricing this issue is quite deep, but the quality of the data suffers from the fact that most extant coins are white or dipped white specimens and that very few can boast of such attractive and extensive toning. One can typically buy an MS66+ for a shade over $2,000 and that coin will be white while a similar MS66 is about $1,150. However, when attractive color is added then those prices can be all over the place, but nearly universally they live in a higher range. This coin is in a PCGS 13 generation holder, which is now fairly unusual to find, and these were produced from February, 2002 through November, 2004. This was a time before PCGS offered the plus (+) grade and I imagine this coin would stand a good chance of earning that grade, and greater value, if submitted again. The obverse has very strong and dramatic toning that ranges from navy and magenta at 8:00 o’clock and changes to gold at 2:00 o’clock. The reverse is an antique white. $1,395.00
