...notice that the coins the smugglers used to identify themselves actually had James Fraser's buffalo obverse on them? I thought I saw it, then went back and paused it- sure enough!

Yeah- I never expected accuracy in a 'historical miniseries' but I did enjoy watching it.

  • Thomas Jefferson seems to play a very slim role in this mini-series. I believe he was a bit more involved than depicted. I think they fashioned Sam Adams as they did considering Sam Adams Beer is a major sponsor of the miniseries. I don't think the company wanted to portray him as a fat alcoholic considering they are selling a product.

Depending on how factual it is, I was surprised to learn that the revolution is a result of a bunch of smugglers and criminals pushing back. Appears Hancok was a corrupt one percenter.

Yep the idea of actually having some real History on History TV is just not economically feasible it seems.
It is one of their better tries though.

HAHA, so true. Kind of like expecting to hear music on MTV. FWIW it was mildly entertaining.
  • I'm about half way thru it and if I didn't enjoy actual history I would be enjoying it much more than I am. A little disappointed because I've been looking forward to this minseries, but it's entertaining.

Longacre identifies more with the "Sons of Anarchy" rather than the "Sons of Liberty". image

I meant to watch SOL but I forgot. I hope it is on demand so I can catch it.

    Yes I absolutely loved it.

I also wanted to add that I was a huge Breaking Bad fan, so to see Dean Norris land the role of Franklin got me very interested in watching the pilot episode.

When it was first mentioned, I thought it would be something I'd enjoy, but as I watched the promo's, I realized it wasn't going to be factual and when I tuned in, I didn't like what I was seeing for that reason. They always want to emphasize people's "clay feet" in most of those productions.

Great mini-series and very entertaining even if it isn't 100% historically accurate. If you missed it, it was on the History channel so it will be on a few dozen times more as a rerun.
