Did I Pay Too Much for Bird/Erving/Johnson RC? VCP Help Please!

Probably should have done this prior but oh well too late. Can someone VCP the Bird/Erving/Johnson RC? I really wanted it as I still think it has a way to go in value. I won the Probstein Auction last night for it. I couldn't believe that I was the only last minute bidder. I just through a snipe in thinking that for this price (next bid increment) why not, not really expecting to win it.

    Ok, I feel better now. Is that the average over the past year? It seems like this card has really increased over the past year.

    My only thing to add is that, even though a '9' is a MINT grade, not all '9's are created equal. If you have a premium looking '9', then you can't go wrong. If you have only an 'average' '9' or something with an issue, then you might could have squeezed out a better deal elsewhere. You will be able to tell when you get the card in hand.

    I appreciate the comments everybody. It is well centered and it has a very small black line that seems to be more on the edge (more over than normal and smaller than normal). Of all the cards with the black line this one seems to have a smaller one that I've seen.

    Holy no PD Batman! Sharp card. I've been happy with plenty of cards I overpaid for, but I don't think that's the case here. Nice grab.
    52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.

    that's a great card, i'd say you paid fair value for it

    sometimes you can find them closer to $1,500, but then again those usually have some centering issues with them

    i agree, it's a tough card in higher grades and there's nothing about it that would make you think it goes DOWN from here

    Thanks for the words everyone. I've been looking for this card for a while and finally pulled the trigger. I used to have a BVG 9 that was determined to be sheet cut so I sold that about a year ago, as I wanted the more authentic thing.

    One of my favorite cards in the hobby. Your 9 is beautiful. Nice centering, no printing scruff on the surface , and a very minor black line. I'd say that's a higher end 9. Congrats on picking up a beauty!

    High end cards are bringing top dollar.

    Last several cards I have bid on all went for higher than recent hi VCP

    So around VCP for a nice card is more than acceptable.
