Ever bought a raw card with "Wow PSA 10?" in the title...

...that you subbed and got a 10 on?
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

The most recent one on a card I'm chasing had a title with "PSA 10? 9?". In the description he stated something like "could be a PSA 8, 9, or 10 IMO".

Card was centered no better than 80/20 l-r and had enough corner rounding that it was a PSA 6 at absolute best. I stopped watching once it crossed the threshold of what a PSA 7 should have sold for.

I have purchased quite a few "hyped" raw cards off of eBay that wound up grading PSA 10. Mostly modern.

I rarely see vintage cards hyped as 10's

I have gotten PSA 10's from raw pickups off EBAY but I highly doubt anyone will ever get one where it is being pimped in the title.

Why wouldn't that same person just grade it and sell it for more?

Anyone hip the grading scene certainly would.

I ignore those listings on principle.
  • I ignore sellers that list PSA or say a card is gradeable in their listings of raw cards. However, I've scored a lot of great cards/sets listed as MINT and they were actually graded as 9's.

I refuse to buy a card UNLESS it has Wow, PSA Worthy, or Pack Fresh in the title.

I generally tend to look down upon any card that has the exclaimer "Wow" as a necessity in the listing title. I would rather they list it as UFB
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

No but a guy I know in Jersey can pick out 10's like a needle in a haystack.
