USPS express delays

In the past couple weeks I have had three usps express shipments end up being 2 day shipments when the one day was the guarantee. I don't know if this is an effect of their cutbacks. Has anyone else who does significant number of expresses been having this problem?

Last 8 express mail packages have been at least 1 day late for me. ~1/3 of the last 100 packages mailed to me have been sent to the wrong sort facility.

Are you eligible for a refund?

My last Express took 2 days. Got my money back. I spoke to my local PO peeps who said it is an ongoing problem.

To my knowledge all delivery guarantee failures are refundable upon request. I use a corporate express account for those deliveries, and got $50 refunded on the first two. The third happened today. It's probably cheaper for them to refund a certain number of expresses than do a special group of shipping of items in some cases, but my understanding is they use Fed Ex planes for their express shipments.

Yes, FedEx forwards the USPS express mail. I average a refund on about 1 of 4 packages, and it has been that way for years. The only reason I use it is for insurance coverage that is available far beyond the cap I have on priority mail.

If people were paid strictly on performance not guaranteed whether they do the job or not. If the people who are in charge of making sure the expresses get on the right plane by the deadlines were fired if the percentage of failure was over acceptable levels, I'm sure they could find 100 qualified workers willing to do that job.

Interesting to read. Just had a registered package go from Arizona to Georgia in 48 hours. Seems like things are backwards at the PO now.

I sent a registered from Ames to Oklahoma City on Friday the 16th and it would have gotten there on Monday the 19th if it wasn't for MLK day. I have one on the way to Hawaii, so we'll see. Tracking may show; fell out of plane and eaten by sharks.

USPS Expressed mail ends up as 2 day delivery is very common. More than half of Heritage Auction USPS expressed shipments ended up with 2 days even thought when shipped computer tracking showed next day delivery

If you can't make it in the real world, go work for the government.
