I told the seller, not sure it will do any good, th solution id like to see is it ending with no bids, that would tell me that people have begun to educate themselves, which is the ONLY way to combat the counterfeits, I frown on destroying them unless it can be proven that they are of modern manufacture, such as this one is, the contemporary counterfeits are interesting to collect and pose no threat to numismatics.

he replied "why do you think its fake ?" I mentioned my 20+ years in collecting seated quarters, and added that I was merely trying to help him avoid the headache of the secret service knocking on his door for selling counterfeit coins.

I got the sense that the seller is a neophyte in numismatics, that the bogus coin and the battered 1867 check with damaged revenue stamp were found at a flea market; they paid too much for them with the belief that they bought a bargain and were going to realize a windfall on resale. They've paid a bunch of tuition, now they need to go to skule.

Only feedback as a 'seller' was for a 1 oz. gold bar sold for over $1300...what are the odds grampa also left that for him? (More likely somebody bought an expensive Chinese paperweight.)
