As if the Lake Show morphing into a cesspool wasn't bad enough. Another premature end to the Black Mamba's season. This time, torn rotator cuff. He was shooting a career-worst 37 percent from the field prior to his latest injury.

Is it time for him to walk off into the sunset? If so, will this inauspicious denouement tarnish his legacy?

I was going to start a thread on this, but figured it was more of a "bit surprise...." kind of topic. I don't care of the Lakers, but I think he should call it a day. The NBA seems to be on the upswing of popularity with many, and his old guard should take off.

I do not believe Kobe will retire anytime soon. He will want to keep making the big bucks. He will also want to continue scoring in bunches because he wants to take a shot at breaking the all time scoring record. He probably will not want to play for anyone but the Lakers, however he may do like Jordan and play for a couple of years after the Lakers cut him loose.
