A Dark, Gunky, Super-Cool Crumbling Reverse 1807 O.105a Draped Bust Half

This coin was not in my latest advance notice email because I only obtained it yesterday, so this is truly first shot. PCGS EF40.

Dark, dirty, covered in die cracks and featuring an essentially crumbling reverse; this 1807 O.105a R4 Draped Bust half is the epitome of the early US Mint manufacturing process. The obverse is a very deep brown with traces of original luster around the devices and a hint of deep navy when tilted while the reverse is a terrific match for color that also features embedded, ground in, ancient dirt and grime within the eagle’s feathers and the Federal shield along with massive, obvious die cracks that appear to split the coin into multiple planes. This is a very tough die state for this die marriage and is especially difficult to find completely unmolested. This is a great coin. $2,295.00
