TrueView QA

With our quarterly special keeping my department busy, I want to make sure things are in working order in our system. There's a lot of back-end coding that goes into preparing and delivering photos on our servers, and your feedback is necessary to document any issues when and if they arise so we can fix them.

Have you not received an email? Is an incorrect coin showing up? Is something else wacky happening? Let us know at photography@collectors.com or in this thread, specifically the cert number (not order number).

Thanks!
Phil

  • And don't ask me why your 1804 silver dollar hasn't been shipped back to you yet. I'm not falling for that one again. image

something i've been meaning to inquire about

has any thought been tossed around to making some type of reference note on labels
that your excellent imaging adjoins this coin

perhaps a lil "TV" in a thumbs up icon....or "TV" in a lil smiley face....or "TV" in a small camera shape do-hickey....or something like that image
surely it could be added to the label before printing them out ...."in a spot where a bean won't cover it up" .....image

toss that idea to boss...that your work shouldn't be a mystery or hiddenimage

    Phil,
I just received my last batch of TrueViewed coin images via email notification, glad to announce that they are of the same quality as the previous orders...fantastic and without discrepancies.

    Keep up the stellar work!

Don't know if I'd like it on the front of the slab but an idea that does have merit.

How about just using a tiny colored dot on the label? Maybe this dot could be located in a corner of the label. Even a small cut at a corner of the label, would be all that is needed, to indicate the coin has TrueView.

maybe even a "TV" on end of grade assigned

    e.g.
    1964 pr68cam TV

  • Phil,
    Great photos of my coins!

The only quirky thing I have had was opening the link to the Truviews and only viewing one photo. Maybe it is my inexperience showing, but if you could explain how to view all the photos separately.

Is there a separate Secure Photo QA ?

I've said my bit in many threads. If I've made my point just say so.

    one other suggestion
adding grade and designation...example of a modified truview here
i for one would love to see such info applied on them rather then chasing down a cert for it
    image

you could post a thread here with a poll attached to acquire a consensus to support any modifications under consideration

I would like the grade added also. image

I recall hearing once that hardwiring a grade into the TrueView ... makes it more convoluted if a coin is later upgraded ... I guess in that case PCGS would need to go back and edit the grade text in all the various sizes of the images.

I think PCGS wanted to simply have a cert number associated with a coin image ... so that people could look up the grade in the database. Then if the coin upgrades (or downgrades) ... people could see that change simply by checking the Cert Verification database (so it's easier for PCGS to maintain -- that is PCGS only needs to make a single change to a database entry, as opoosed to going back and hand editing all the various sizes of the TrueView photo (which I think there are 6 now for each coin?). You have to keep in mind that PCGS deals with millions of coins and millions of images.

Putting the grade on the picture is a real value add for the customer and should generate more $$ for PCGS due to more photos being sold, IMHO

While browsing CoinFacts, sometimes completely out of place TV's will pop up in a spread. For example, looking through 1882-S Morgans, when suddenly, a 1941 Walker. image
