Another Antiques Roadshow

I watched Antiques Roadshow tonight Linky edit to add: (about the 48 min mark)

Had a find of tobacco cards (a couple hundred as I recall). The condition looked outstanding, but a couple things just didn't sit right. They showed a Cobb red-back and the side borders just looked too thin. The colors just didn't seem right either.

It could be that I've become too sceptical (cynical) on big $$$ finds. What are your thoughts?

They look a little slim to me.

Does the red background Cobb come with the American Tobacco back?? The T206s with that back does have skinnier borders.

Also what are they using to hold the cards on that board?? Looks like tacks??

They almost look like reprints. Great cards.

Those look like magnet tacks instead of pin tacks.

What, no mention of a grading service by the appraiser? That's just dumb!

<< <i>Sharp cards! The American Beauty reverses (not American Tobacco) and were typically manuf. slimmer. Wish they would have shown more cards.

Very good chance we see these in a Heritage auction one day fairly soon, after Simeon convinces her that it's the way to go (so he can get his cut). >>

That is the name, should have looked it up, but thought I was close.

Just saw the episode. WOW!!! Very frustrating that more cards weren't shown. They spend WAY too much time on some of the items and not nearly enough on these.
