*SOLD*: a choice 1842 Large Cent, Small Date, PCGS AU58
An underrated major variety - PCGS has graded fewer 1842 Small Dates than any other late date Large Cent. This is a real AU58 with just trace rub, frosty mint luster, and naturally glossy surfaces. Ideal chocolate-brown color too. A little rim nick, or possibly a planchet flaw, at 10 o'clock on the obverse is the only mark worth mentioning. Also a significant example of the N-1 die variety (the scarcer of the two Small Date varieties). Easily an EAC 45+ or 50 coin and probably among the dozen or so best known of the variety as such.
