Stupid question: are you working on a 58 registry set?

Agreed, that one really saved the sub. It is a pop. 6 so this would be 7. Last one sold almost 3 years ago. Funny that was the first one I saw when I started looking at the grades then 2 8's and my hopes soared then it went south quickly.

They can be tough on '58s. Congrats on the Filipski.

Thanks! Yes they seem to be real tough on '58's. This is a very condition sensitive set. These were real nice so I was expecting 10-15 8's(got 5) and the at least 30 7's(got 15). No way I would have thought that over 60 percent of these would be under a 7. Don't understand a couple of the qualifiers either. Now I am pondering whether to try and finish the set. This make a total of 71 PSA cards I have for this set. In addition I have 12 more 8's and 11 more 7's besides these.

Were the points lost due to centering for the most part?

My experience from subbing '58s come from cards I pulled from cello packs. I've probably sent in 25 - 30 of the best cards I've pulled and only got 3 8's and the rest about evenly split between 7's and 6's.

You're past the half way point, I would continue...

I really don't think centering was the issue as I am always careful when purchasing SGC card. The one bvg had perfect centering but dropped 2 grades. image

Scott, I've done that in the past also. That's been about my success rate also. I have 2 PSA graded cellos now and am contemplating ripping those in hopes of pulling JB. Have you ever pulled a JB?
  • ssollarsssollars Posts: 933 ✭✭✭✭
I've never pulled a Jimmy from a '58 pack, although I've tried (See Here). I still have 4 graded cellos myself that I plan on ripping someday, 99% sure there's no Jimmy in any of them, but I can always hope for a sequence shift image
