NYINC Best Find

From what I understand, these large 10 cash coins can be questionable in provenance. This one, however, still had an id card from an old collection, strongly indicating its authenticity.

Edited to tell you what you see: Ming Dynasty. The Tian Qi reign of Emperor Xi Zong. 1621 to 1622.

Nice looking coin, the bold calligraphy and the condition.
I collect history in the form of coins.
  • Very cool! I know very little about these coins but they are visually appealing.

+1. I have a few I picked up over the years and even with a couple of references just can't quite get my head around these. What seems to be many recent fakes always gives pause unless there's a good provenance which you have in this case. But big ones are fun to handle and the series is generally fun to try to attribute (altho often frustrating in my case). Congrats!

Always interested in St Louis MO & IL metro area and Evansville IN national bank notes and Vatican/papal states coins and medals!
