This medal is quite impressive in hand. The Madonna on the obverse is high relief and the reverse is concave, giving the effect of an aerial fisheye view. My excitement about this medal was diminished though, after doing further research and finding it relatively common. Probably overpaid, but I will know better next time.

I've never seen nor heard of that medal in silver.

I've got one in aluminum which was probably sold in the gift shop or something. But a silver one is probably special.

The vendor described the material as "white metal." On the other hand, its heft appears to indicate a metal other than aluminum.
