...this was a shocker as I have been out of the loop for a while.
Is there any information that is public as to why this occurred? I have known Mike for many years, and saw him the last time in 2012.
Thanks,
Greg

The By-Laws state that the candidate with the most number of votes who did not make it on the Board after the elections (you might say the first runner-up) will be a replacement if one of the Board members resigns or is removed.
<< <i>…I'm just speculating here so please forgive me if i'm wrong…maybe he left the ANA board because he is a new grader for the new QA sticker company??? Just a guess

I think this may be a distinct possibility. Plus he's the major attributer for CONECA which must be a fairly hefty workload.
The name is LEE!

I knew this last Frida via the info the ANA passed on, both via email and their website.

Uber-Mad? How many days after the Pogue announcement did you get that memo? What press release were you expecting, and when? A "Thanks" in next month's Numismatist is normal.
BTW, there's an earlier thread on this started maybe Saturday

He leaked private info.....
Working for QA had nothing to do with it.
Tom Mulvaney was the next highest vote getter last election so he was sworn in, following exactly how that should work.
Since Mike resigned instead, then an explanation should come from him.
I spoke to him and he said that all he wants is to be allowed to teach at Summer Seminar and he will be allowed to do that.
I don't think a public forum is the place to lay out the facts, since the problem was resolved by both parties.
Turmoil within the ANA?
I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.

I agree. It's saddening that the ANA didn't take the high road (regardless of the reason of Mike's departure) and "accept his resignation allowing him to pursue other avenues" and "wish him well in his new endeavors" and "thank him for his extraordinary service to the organization" and other assorted niceties. Instead ... the ANA's statement just leads to speculation and rumors. Poor form on the ANA's part, IMO.
