Hi All,
I just wanted to share a recap of this show. I made my way up to Sacramento and was pleasantly surprised at the selection of items.
There were about 40 tables, with a pretty even distribution between vintage and new, shiny stuff. There were plenty of raw and graded of both vintage and modern, so it pretty much offered something for everyone. There was a small assortment of modern wax and junk wax. My pickups for the day included:
My 1st T206 card. There was a dealer who had about 300 T206's available.
Around 30 1970 baseball singles for my set
Around 25 1978 and 1979 singles for my sets
Lot of 2 1984 Topps racks, one with a Boggs on front, for $5
Box of 1988 Topps football for $4 (might be the steal of the day, based on BBCE prices and availability)
Box of 1989 Topps baseball for $4 (couldn't resist for $4 - will save for a fun rip on a slow day)
There was a dealer who had a set of 1975 Topps baseball that looked pretty nice for $300. I now regret not inquiring about it. There were plenty of bin boxes to go through for fillers, which was a lot of fun.
All-in-all, it was a fun show. It seemed to be well attended. Admission was free, which was also nice. If you live in the area, I would recommend checking this show out. They have another one planned for March 14.
Thanks for letting me share!

Is San Jose a pretty central meeting spot?

<< <i>Shoot, I live in Roseville and would have headed over to the show for sure if I'd known about it. I haven't been to a show in years. I'll get to the one in March if I remember. >>
The other show to check out is the St. Leander's show in San Leandro. That one is scheduled for June 20. I went for the first time last year and it was awesome. The promoter says they generally get 80 tables for that show. Lots of vintage with a good mix of modern.
It sounds like I'm further south from most of you. I'm in Fresno/Clovis area and would love to get a show like one of these together.
<< <i>Mark Macrae is the promoter of the St. Leanders show and is one of the most knowledgeable dealers in the hobby, especially in regards to tobacco cards and PCL baseball. >>
+1 He's awesome. Mark was at this last Sacramento show and (I believe) is scheduled to be at the March show.
