Coin taste evolution

YorkshiremanYorkshireman Posts: 4,583 ✭✭✭✭✭
While at the FUN show, I noticed my coin tastes evolved.
By Friday morning, I began looking almost exclusively at nice Capped Bust half dollars and Matron head large cents.
I bought a beautiful CBH that is being reholdered..

I have so much to learn about each series.

Please post photos of some of your eye appealing coins in those areas. What made you begin collecting in that series and/ or
buy that particular coin?

If you give in to the allure of the CBH series you'll have plenty of company.

Large cents........ they're still growing on me.

i struggle with the evolution of coin taste some
    as it grows
    some other part shrinks

that day i can't be happy finding a wheat cent in circulation maybe more then a sign of trouble

If the taste evolves to being salty they have probably handled too much.

I do not know a single person who has gone into coin collecting with the same series they come out with. This is a good thing. Way too much to enjoy and learn.

    Oh great, more competetion! imageimage

Actually that is great! I'm always working on my capped bust and large cent collection. I didn't pick up any bust halves at FUN, but I did acquire a nice PCGS XF-45 1817 15 stars large cent. I'll post that and other stuff when I write up my FUN report.

Proof Large Cents?! I guess I don't get out much! Those are awesome. As are Coinlieutenants! I wish I had decent fotos to post of my circulated large cents. Or of the CBH or two I still have. I do find it enjoyable, Yorkshireman, to recall how my coin tastes have evolved, from shiny modern series back to almost all things classic and circulated. Happy hunting!
