91 Final Edition Question

I decided to buy some sets to chase down my Pedro RC. It's an easy enough buy, but I'd rather chase my own. I went ahead and bought a handful of sets from a seller I've worked with before, and the sets seemed good.

My question is, how were these wrapped from factory?

While perusing I saw loose wraps, tight wraps, with and without logos. Some even looked like they were resealed with wraps from larger boxes.

Any insight would be appreciated in advance of arrival.

Thanks
Jim

This thread reminded me of this, which I've shown before.

A couple of years ago, my son received a 91 Final Edition set from my cousin, who picked up at K Mart or something, and had no idea what he bought. We went to an old timers game at Cooperstown last Memorial Day and my then-10-year-old elbowed his way through the mob to get this one signed. Great cornerstone for his collection for years to come.
  • These sets are the worst packaging that I ever saw from U.D. .. I still have 1 sealed case and a partial case (27). Some of the sets are real loose and others fine, some have a rippled effect and where the seam is located it doesn't look like a factory job. I had many customers back in 1991 comment that they didn't like the loose wrap even though it had the U.D. logo on the wrap. A case contains 60 sets and at least half of mine were loose wrap.

Below is a photo of one where it is so loose it is puckered on the top and bottom left. This came from a sealed case I purchased direct from U.D. in 1991.

Thank you for that. Very helpful. I was starting to really question everything I saw.
